My mom hung up on her wall at work this quote from George Bernard Shaw that I first saw when I was a kid. It has stuck with me throughout my adult life as a good philosophy to live by:

"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man."
