Maybe not gay, but definitely funny
So, we make it a point to watch 60 Minutes on Sunday night almost every week. Bonnie and I watch it with the kids in tow, then shortly thereafter, it's their bedtime.
It's a weird family tradition -- this is how my family spent our Sunday evenings. It was time well spent -- I learned a lot about politics and current events watching those shows. And it's how we spend ours. Often times the kids will ask questions about the reports, and I'll do my best to answer them.
Last night's episode of 60 Minutes had a fascinating piece entitled The Science of Sexual Orientation. The focus of the piece was the research that's being done to establish whether or not sexual orientation is, as many believe, physiologically imprinted on to us, or, as others believe, it's behaviorally triggered.
Leslie Stahl explained something that biologists call "the older brother effect." It's been demonstrated that the more older brothers a man has, the more likely he'll turn out gay.
"If this comes as a shock to you, you're not alone. But it turns out, it's one of the most solid findings in this field, demonstrated in study after study," said Stahl.
At that point there was a heavy silence in the room.
James, who had been doing headstands on the couch, stopped mid-stretch and looked at the TV, then shot his older brother a glance with a bit of a panicked look on his face.
"Uh oh," he said.

Bet it's the first time in his life that James has been happy that Emme is a girl.

LOL! Tina was just asking me today what my reaction would be if we had a gay son or daughter. She wants to have 3 kids. I would like to have ideally 1, not more than 2. Now, I guess I have one more argument in my favor. ;)
