Mrrr?
It's warm and sunny and now that the kids are back in school from February break, the living room is once again quiet. So during at least part of the day that's where i find myself working, usually perching my laptop on my lap in the La-Z-Boy chair. It's a nice place to drink a cup of coffee and not have to stress about the things I have to do today, like wear pants.
Max is often my companion during these times. As an indoor housecat, he spends the bulk of his life either sleeping or trying to find comfortable positions in which to sleep.
Max prefers a patch of sun whenever he can get it, and he plays this little game, where he locates a patch of sun on the carpet and curls up and goes to sleep. After a time he'll notice that he's no longer as warm as he was, and he'll reposition himself in the new location, curl up and sleep. This repeats for or five times until the sun has arced high enough in the sky that it no longer casts its rays directly through the window. Here's a picture of him sitting in the sunlight:

Pet me, slave

The other day I saw Max sitting beside the love seat with this frustrated look on his face. He'd sit down, then a few moments later he'd rise up again, with this quizzical grunting "Mrrr?" emanating from his throat. Then he'd sit back down. This repeated three or four times.
Finally, it dawned on me. It was so early in the day that the sun's rays were coming in almost directly parallel to the horizon, at a very obtuse angle to the floor. Max could see the sun well enough from his vantage point when he sat up, but when he lied down, the sun was gone.
Finally Max got the picture too, and hopped up onto the back of the sofa, which is positioned right under the window and directly in the path of the sun. He curled up and napped, content that he had the sun right where he wanted it.
