The fact that they would even call that a racist act sickens me. This "Affirmative Action" is the most racist our country has done since the 60's. More people should stand up and put an end to this.

: : : applauds the berkley college republicans : : : For years now, I have been writing and researching on what I feel to be the injustice of affirmative action, and reading about this puts a smile on my face. Racist act? Please. If this is a racist act, and if someone out there actually feels wronged by this, then read some of my position statements. Now there are some racist acts, all of which, I can assure you, have been committed in the name of affirmative action.

Here we go again with all the hype that spawns controversy. Truth is that affirmative action promotes racism---PERIOD! To get any special treatment on the basis of race is prejudice. It does not promote an equal opprotunity enviorment it promotes an enviorment that is you may do better in schoolo but you still lose out to some one who does not do as well simply on the basis of race. There are complaints that there are more caucasions in colleges than minorities....that is because the vast majority of the population is caucasion. Not to difficult to understand is it?
We want to make changes lets start with immigrants getting free education while ALL Americans still have to pay.

Affirmative Action has kept me out of more job opportunities and they call it Equal Oppportunity! BULLSHIT! I want to support my wife and family but the DAMN US Government says no! I am against this Affirmative Action!

Affirmative Action is an out dated and quite frankly failed attempt to appease women and minorities. It's unfair to choose a student for admission that is equaly or less qualified than another purely because of race. And no one can deny that it IS all about race, even when you say that it's about "ethnic diversity." what's that doing? Bringing people of other races into a community...but the way affirmative action goes about it is all wrong.

Affirmitive action is the most bullshit I have ever heard and all it is doing is giving the scum of the earth better jobs then qualified whites!

Affirmative Action is quite possibly one of the most racist policies existing in our country today. According to our Constitution, every person is to be treated equally, regardless of race, gender, and the like. I urge everyone to get involved and try to put an end to affirmative action. No one should be given priority over another because of race. The idea is ludacris and it is diametrically opposed to the principles that began this nation. Take a stand. Affirmative Action must end and hopefully it will be ended in our lifetimes.

Affirmative action is morally unsound because it is anti-merit. If there is not an anti-merit feature to it, then no one is getting any boost out of it , and there is no reason not to shut it down. It sets groups into conflict in a thoroughly immoral way, and it does so by means of aggression. The disparate impact policy also shows the anti-merit nature of the policy; it rejects single-standards when these suppress the numbers of disadvantaged minorities. Double-standards are enemies of morality. Therefore let us be more anti-affirmative action and more anti-quota.

Unfortunately i'm going to have to say that most of what has been said are misconceptions. First of all affirmative action has been effective in leveling the playing field and increasing the number of minorities getting a further education since they are completely underrepresented in this field as it is. To say that the small minority percentage in college is completely proportional to their percentage of the population in america is as well a misconception as by 2010 minorities will comprise roughly one third of the entire nation's population but still only represent a fraction of this in higher education. Another misconception that has been pointed out is the quota system, quota's are illegal in the united states and are not used, students applying to universities are all reviewed on an individual basis and therefore have as much merit as any other students applying. Yes this is america, and everyone is entitled to equal opportunity, but one cannot expect those who have been enslaved for 200 years and discriminated against for another 50 to be at an equal economic standing overnight. Affirmative Action is completely necessary, if anything it just needs to be mended, more good than harm is being produced from it.

No one has ever been enslaved for two centuries, and it is not the duty of the living to provide an inheritance for those whose ancestors are not known to have wanted there to be any inheritance. By aggression, the government has the caucasians under legal disability in recruitment and other areas, and has used flexible quotas which become more restrictive every year. Racial proportionalism is anti-moral. It would be more idealistic to be pro-ability and anti-quota. An all-merit society would have ideal qualities, but the racializing politics of affirmative action threatens greater and greater divisions.
