Gingrich Doesn’t Address His Supporter’s Assertion That Obama Is Muslim: “‘I believe that Obama is not stupid. I believe he knows exactly how the economy works, but I also believe that number one, he’s a Muslim. Number two, he’s a student of Saul Alinsky … and I believe that it’s his policy to bring this country to its knees and ruin the United States of America.’”
I wonder how many of these moon-eyed redneck goons know anything about Saul Alinsky outside of “that name sounds Jewish.”
The whole Alinsky trope is so meaningless. Anyone who has ever spent any time with community organizing efforts can be branded a “student of Saul Alinsky.” Like rally organizers for the Tea Party, for instance.
Gingrich’s inability to correct his assertion that Obama is Muslim stands in stark contrast to how John McCain more deftly handled that same situation in 2008.
But at this point Gingrich is little more than an also-ran, so it probably won’t make much of a difference.
If one actually reads Alinsky, while radical for his time, he was actually patriotic and not anti-government at all. Gingrich just set up a straw man hoping no one ever reads Alinsky. Just like Santorum never thinks anyone will actually read the JFK church and state speech that made him vomit!
