This morning Bonnie pointed me to an article reposted on the Huffington Post, recounting the story of a 15-year-old special needs student who had been severely beaten by a police officer in his school, allegedly for an incident involving an untucked shirt. The whole incident was caught on video tape.

Seems like a classic case of some “respect mah authoritah” style jackbooted fascist tactics against a special needs kid who, in all likelihood, has some oppositional issues. It wouldn’t be the first time a person in a position of authority – or a uniform – treated a child with special needs inhumanely simply because they were non-compliant.

If it had ended there, it would have been bad enough. In all likelihood, 15-year-old Marshawn Pitts and his lawyer have enough to sue the city of Dalton and the school into the bronze age, and I hope they do.

But it turns out this cop is a genuine scumbag. You can add rape and murder to his rap sheet too.

Officer Christopher Lloyd is currently sitting in a jail cell in Indiana, facing charges that he raped a woman at knifepoint. But it gets better. Last year, he killed his ex-wife’s new husband “in self-defense” using 24 bullets.

Let’s assume for the moment that Officer Lloyd was carrying the standard issue police sidearm for a Chicago area cop – a Glock 22 or something similar, a .40 caliber handgun. It has a 15 round clip.

That means that Lloyd emptied a clip and reloaded the weapon, then fired nine more bullets, in “self defense.” Astonishingly, the Chicago police accepted his explanation.

The alleged rape occurred since the attack on the boy, but the slaying of his ex-wife’s new husband occurred more than a year before the incident at the school. How and why the city of Dalton hired this thug is bewildering.
